Synchronous Lifting Pump and High Tonnage Cylinders Steady the Ship for Seaspan
Effective, safe, and precise movement of such a large and heavy object requires exact control and synchronized movement of all lifting points. To achieve this, an Enerpac EVO Synchronous Lifting Pump and 12 High Tonnage Hydraulic Lifting Cylinders were specified and supplied by local Enerpac distributor Hyseco.

Relocating a 70 ton Press with a Hydraulic Gantry Reduces Downtime
International machinery installations and removals specialist, JH Kemp Ltd, has used an Enerpac SL400 telescopic hydraulic gantry to relocate a Wilkins and Mitchell press weighing 70 Tons at Salop Design & Engineering, a metal pressings and assemblies’ manufacturer in Telford, UK. Lifting and moving the press was completed over a weekend, saving Salop Design & Engineering three weeks in lost production.

Quickly Removing Hundreds of Corroded Carriage Bolts with a Hydraulic Nut Splitter and Cordless Pump
Hundreds of vineyard line posts needed to be disassembled and removed. Many of the nuts had rusted onto the carriage bolt holding the vineyard trellis arms. Unbolting them was very time consuming, and faster removal methods such as grinding or torches were dangerous and posed fire hazards.

Slew Bearing Replacement on a Ship Loader
Replacing the slew bearing on the 40 year old (grain) ship loader required lifting the upper structure 300 mm to provide adequate clearance during replacement. Keeping the boom connected made it challenging to maintain the balance of the ship loader during the lift. Maintaining the center of gravity of the ship loader throughout the lift was critical.

Turbine and Generator Installation at a New Power Plant in Libya
Çalık Enerji is constructing a new simple-cycle power plant with a 542 megawatt capacity in Khoms, Libya. The Sarilar Group was tasked with installing a GE gas turbine weighing approximately 280 tons and a GE generator weighing approximately 214 tons. Installation required lifting the turbine and generator over 5 meters high and lowering into position on a concrete foundation.

Assembling an Offshore Platform Oil Rig Modules
Petrobras is constructing a new offshore oil platform for an oil field in the Santos Basin off the coast of Rio de Janerio. Jaragua Equipamentos was tasked with assembling 4 modules during the construction of an oil rig. Each module weighed more than 700 tons and required precision lifting and alignment during assembly.

Removal of Decommissioned London Tube Trains with a Hydraulic Gantry
Nine London Underground 1983 model stock trains were decommissioned and abandoned in the South Harrow sidings in 1998 when the 96 model stock trains were introduced. The poor condition of the 83 train cars made it unsafe to haul out onto the network to a depot. Sonic Rail Services were contracted by the Station Works and Improvement Program (SWIP) of London Underground to remove the carriages from the South Harrow station sidings, with minimal disruption to the network and to undertake the necessary remedial repairs to the track.

Box Girder Launching System on the I-95 Whittier Bridge
Constructed in 1951, the John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge is currently in the process of being replaced by a new bridge compliant with current safety standards. The high traffic bridge connects Newburyport and Amesbury via I-95 over the Merrimack River. Walsh Construction is employing a rail mounted gantry crane system to simplify the placement of the steel bridge girders and precast deck to create the approach spans. Two 6 foot tall, 960 foot long temporary support steel box girders will be launched across temporary piers to create a rail system for the gantry crane to operate on during the approach span construction. The steel box girder arrangement will be moved after the placement of each approach span. It’s critical that the two 550 ton temporary steel support box girders move in unison in order to prevent binding or misalignment of the gantry crane operating on top of the rail system.
