Durable WCR4000 slim torque wrenches set benchmarks for power, accessibility and safety
A ruggedly engineered slimline range of all-steel WCR-4000 Series torque wrenches has been introduced by Enerpac that offers more power, durability, accessibility and safety than any comparable tools of their size.
The WCR 4000 spanner design has been optimized to provide the lowest radial and spanner thickness possible yet still deliver the rated torque required to provide bolting professionals with one of the most versatile and high performing tools available for limited access applications, says Enerpac.
As well as minimising downtime associated with failure of less durable compact designs, the WCR4000 series enhances efficiency and minimises fatigue and delay by easily and safely accessing tight spaces, including particularly API flanges commonly used in surface drilling and production pipelines and plant.
Available with a wide range of ring type spanners, the WCR enhances safety by incorporating a Safe Fail Link design incorporating a “mechanical fuse” inside the cassette, which safeguards against spanner fragmentation and associated injury hazards occurring outside the cassette with other designs. This is a safety feature not found in other roller cassettes.
Increased simplicity is achieved by the WCR4000 being powered by Enerpac’s standard W4000 drive unit, which allows the many customers who already use Enerpac low-profile tools to also use their existing W4000 drives on the new WCR4000.
The drive unit for new WCR4000 range is compatible with widely used Enerpac standard W series hexagonal cassettes. The WCR4000 range joins Enerpac’s wide range of non-impact professional bolting and joint technologies, including the W low profile hexagonal wrenches, S square drive wrenches, Z series torque wrench pumps and complementary technology such as the new ATM series flange alignment tools that rectify twists and rotational flange misalignment quickly and safely.

The slim spanner design resolves bolt-to-pipe restrictions and reduces bolt height restrictions, provides functionality on nearly any API flange. WCR cassettes do not ratchet. The tool moves around the outside of the flange (top left) as it torques the bolt. The spanner is lifted and removed from the nut to re-stroke the tool on each cycle of the wrench. This design allows controlled tightening in applications where it would otherwise not be possible.
The Safe Fail Link spanner design includes a mechanical fuse inside the cassette, left, providing safer bolting for operators and nearby workers. Its slim ring style profile, right,(30mm spanner width) provides the ultimate mixture of versatility and durability, with AF sizes from 36-80mm (1-17/16” to 3-1/8”) .
