Hydraulic Drive System for Las Vegas Observation Wheel
Erecting the Las Vegas High Roller Observation Wheel included installing the 28 passenger cabins. To ensure accurate and safe installation, a hydraulic drive system was needed to turn the wheel for correct positioning and placement. The drive system would also be critical in the overall rotation of the wheel, which would serve as the permanent operating system. Enerpac and Schwager Davis Inc., a specialty contractor, worked together to supply a reliable system solution.

Safely Releasing Furnace Bricks from a Steel Fixture
Vesuvius processes the bricks which are used to the line the interior of an industrial furnace. The bricks begin in a "soft" state and need to be compressed, hardened and heated before they are installed in a furnace. A steel box is filled and compressed hardening the bricks. After compression the bricks stick to the steel fixture and a significant amount of force is needed to release the bricks from the steel fixture.

Assembling and Transporting Electric Transformers with a Hydraulic Gantry
Tadeo Czerweny, a global leader in the electric power transformation market, based in Argentina, was seeking a solution after deciding to expand their manufacturing capacity and build higher-capacity electric transformers. The immediate need was to vertically lift a heavy platform structure used to assemble electric transformer cores and transport the large electric transformers within their plant. The maximum loads to be moved were 250 to 300 metric tons with a total height of 11 meters.

Placing Bridge Girders with Precise Control with a SyncHoist System
The Pacific Highway expansion project includes hundreds of kilometers of new highway between Sydney and Brisbane. Part of the project includes the construction of a new bridge over the Nambucca River. When completed the Nambucca River Bridge will be 850 meters long and will include 21 bridge spans comprised of four precast concrete girders. Weighing up to 158 tonnes and 41 meters length, each of the girders will need to be placed on bearings with precise control.

Transporting a 1,200 ton Hydraulic Press to the Second Floor with a Hydraulic Gantry
Before Rangemaster could install their new 1,200 ton ring frame Hydraulico press they needed to remove the existing hydraulic double action press. Located on a second floor mezzanine, their existing press needed to be dismantled, lifted, lowered and transported through several space confined areas to the ground floor in order to be removed. The new press weighed about 60 tons, about twice that of the existing press. Getting the press to fit through the bay doors required it to be in a horizontal position.

Hydraulic Jacking System Assists Construction of the Honolulu Rail Transit System
In 2012, the Honolulu Rail Transit Project began the construction of a 20-mile elevated rail line. The rail system seeks to alleviate significant traffic issues affecting Hawaii’s most congested city. Kiewit was tasked with the design and construction of the elevated rail guideway. In order to accelerate the construction timeline and maintain a high-level of quality, Kiewit selected a segmental precast span-by-span construction technique to complete the project.

Lifting a Reclaimer Stacker for Bearing Replacement
The main bearing on a Bardella iron ore reclaimer stacker needed to be replaced. Safely replacing the bearing without injury or damaging the stacker required lifting the 470 metric ton stacker approximately 400 mm (15.74 inches) while maintaining the machine’s center of gravity.
